Being Rather Than Talking: Vital For Racing Workout Success
Being in charge of personal fitness coaching for elite achievers such as NASCAR’s Kasey Kahne, Travis Rilat and the Kasey Kahne Racing Team, I draw on the process and my exposure to them to uncover the chief mindsets the seperate the champions from average achievers. I recently wrote some articles applying Brian Tracy’s 7 laws for success in the 21st century to peak performance physical and mental racer training. I view Brian to be one of the authoritative authors and speakers on success as exists anywhere.
The question I wanted to answer for myself and to use in my Racers Workout DVD program was: what is a global success mindset, or global personality trait that will determine whether someone gets max results in any endeavor? One thing that stands out is there is a huge difference between doing it and talking about it. Like I say to my racers: “Nothin means nothin unless you win some races.”
In our present times, it is very easy to spin a plausible story about yourself and have it take hold as fact. There could often be no actual achievement or effort or experience behind it. But make no mistake this is the route of the ultimate failures. I am best with English, but there is a Latin phrase that I think captures it best. Esse Quam Videri means merely: to be rather than appear. To really be, a great racer for instance, a person must really be willing to do the little things that make a success a success.
Appearing only, without the substance of physical and mental effort behind it, will eventually expose any person and their efforts as phoney. A phoney will never be a success at anything. Except for being a phoney. The emptiest of all achievements.
